This past fall, our St. Pius X Grade 5 students were invited to create a piece to share how they envision a reconciled Canada and represent their understandings of Truth and Reconciliation. Students were also invited to submit their representations to the National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation (NCTR) as part of their "Imagine A Canada" initiative.

We'd like to congratulate Maksimas Viskontas and Olivia Wall as their projects have been celebrated and recognized by the NCTR.

Maksimas’ reflective essay and Olivia’s original song were both selected to represent Canada and are the only two students to represent British Columbia in the K-Gr. 5 category. Their submissions will later be included in a digital booklet created by the NCTR.

On April 2, both students will be participating in a leadership gathering to listen to and learn from Indigenous leaders, elders and Residential School survivors.

We wish them all the best as they continue learning and represent our school on a national level! Way to go Maksimas and Olivia!
